Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale

Pease Pottage car boot sale entrance

Update (February 2019): The Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale is no longer in operation. The site is currently being developed as a housing estate.

The following information is now obsolete:

The Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale has operated from Hardriding Farm on Brighton Road since the mid-1990s, and is open on Sundays during the summer, weather permitting. It claims to be the largest car boot sale in south-east England. Hardriding Farm also contains the Pease Pottage composting site.

The Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale offers:

  • food and drink
  • toilets
  • a bouncy castle
  • disabled parking

Opening Hours

The Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale is open from 6:30 am to 2 pm. Sellers should arrive between 6 and 10 am, and may leave at any time.

The sale is usually busiest between 9 am and mid-day. During this period there can be huge traffic jams going to and from the car boot sale, so it’s best to arrive as early as possible.

Dates

The Pease Pottage Car Boot Sale is normally open every Sunday morning between mid-April and September. All dates are dependent on the weather. If a sale is cancelled, an answerphone message will be left on 07799 135684.

Prices

The following prices were correct as of May 2018.

  • Sellers – cars £10; vans £12.50 to £30, depending on size; trailers extra
  • Buyers – adults: £2 from 6:30 to 7:30 am; 50p from 7:30 to 11 am; free after 11 am; children (under 14) free

Booking is not required, but pairs of sellers can save a small amount (two cars for £15 instead of £20) by booking no later than the Friday before each sale; either send a text message to 07799 135684 or send a message on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crawley-United-Kingdom/Pease-Pottage-Car-Boot/120998121255381). In each case, include your vehicles’ registration numbers.

Location and Driving Directions

From the M23, the A23, or the A264, follow the signs to the Pease Pottage service station. From the roundabout at junction 11 of the M23, the entrance to the boot sale is about 50 yards along on your left, almost directly opposite the entrance to the service station, and is clearly signposted. If you are thinking of using the service station car park, be warned that it gets very crowded, and you may be liable to a fine if you stay too long.

The main exit from the boot sale is on Parish Lane; to reach the M23, A23 or A264, take the third exit (right) at the roundabout at the top of Parish Lane.
